Primary Use

Coffing JLC

The Coffing JLC is primarily used as a rugged, everyday electric chain hoist for lifting and positioning loads in general industrial applications like maintenance, fabrication, and material handling. It’s a go-to choice when you need reliable performance and straightforward features for consistent shop or facility use.

Coffing EC

The Coffing EC is primarily used as a heavy-duty, high-duty-cycle electric chain hoist for frequent, production-level lifting in demanding industrial environments. It’s typically selected for applications that run more often, require higher performance, and benefit from long service life under continuous use.

Lift Capacity Range

With a 1/8-ton to 2-ton capacity range, the Coffing JLC is ideal for lighter to mid-duty lifting in maintenance shops, fabrication areas, warehouses, and general material handling. With a broader 1/4-ton to 5-ton range, the Coffing EC is better suited for heavier loads and more frequent production lifting in manufacturing lines, machining cells, and industrial facilities.

Lift Speed Range

The Coffing JLC has lift speed options ranging from 8 fpm to 32 fpm, while the Coffing EC offers lift speeds ranging from 5 fpm to 64 fpm. Both the Coffing JLC and Coffing EC are offered in single-speed configurations, with an optional 2-speed hoist upgrade that provides a 3:1 speed ratio or VFD option for more precise control.

Standard Lifts

Both the Coffing JLC and Coffing EC are available in standard lift heights of 10 ft, 15 ft, and 20 ft, covering the most common overhead lifting needs in shops and industrial facilities. If your application requires a different hook travel, custom lift heights are available to match your exact ceiling height and clearance requirements.

Voltage Options

Both the Coffing JLC and Coffing EC are available in 115/230V single-phase for lighter-duty installations and facilities without three-phase power, as well as 230/460V three-phase for industrial environments that want efficient, consistent performance. These options make it easy to match the hoist to your building’s power service.

Suspension Options

The Coffing JLC is available in top hook and lug suspension configurations, and it can also be ordered in plain (push) trolley or motorized trolley suspension for applications that need beam travel. The Coffing EC offers top hook options (including rigid or swivel styles) as well as rigid lug suspension designed for mounting to Coffing trolleys, letting you choose the suspension style that best fits your installation and handling needs.

Chain Container Included

The Coffing JLC includes a plastic chain container to help manage slack load chain, keep the work area cleaner, and reduce snagging hazards during operation. The Coffing EC does not include a chain container by default, making it a common add-on consideration when you want the same chain control and jobsite organization.

CSA Approved

Both the Coffing JLC and Coffing EC are CSA approved, meaning they meet applicable CSA safety standards for electrical equipment used in industrial lifting applications. This approval helps simplify specifying and installing the hoists in facilities that require recognized third-party certification for compliance and safety reviews.

Safety Features

Both the Coffing EC and Coffing JLC are built around core safety systems like a multiple-disc motor brake, overload protection (overload clutch/device), and adjustable upper/lower limit switches, plus 24V control at the pendant to improve operator safety.

The EC further emphasizes “designed for safety” by including a mechanical load brake, motor brake, and overload clutch as standard, while the JLC highlights its compact design with a multiple-disc motor brake, overload clutch, and chain end stop as key safety features.

Country of Origin

Both the Coffing JLC and Coffing EC are made in the United States, which is a strong fit for buyers who prioritize domestic manufacturing and consistent build standards. U.S. origin can also simplify compliance requirements and support programs for industrial, municipal, and government-related projects where domestic sourcing is preferred.

Warranty Information

Both the Coffing JLC and Coffing EC are backed by a manufacturer’s lifetime warranty, reflecting Coffing’s confidence in the hoist’s long-term durability and build quality. It gives buyers added peace of mind by helping protect the investment over the life of the hoist.
